Developmental Disabilities

The Foundation’s funding objective in the Developmental Disabilities category is to improve service delivery for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.

We define developmental disability as a disability that is manifested before a person reaches 22 years of age, constitutes a substantial disability to the affected individual, and is attributable to mental retardation or related conditions which include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism or other neurological conditions when such conditions result in impairment of general intellectual functioning or adaptive behavior similar to that of a person with mental retardation.

Our Developmental Disabilities Grant Guidelines are issued on an annual basis with letters of inquiry due in mid-August. The grant guidelines provide information about the Foundation’s target population, funding priorities, and application procedure.

We encourage you to review the grant guidelines carefully and to submit a letter of inquiry should you have a program or project that qualifies. If your letter is selected for further consideration, you will be asked to complete a full grant application. Grant applications are accepted by request only.
